After years of infertility, Kim Patton finally became a mom through adoption — then God asked her to do the impossible: become a foster parent to teenage girls. This is a powerful Christian testimony about surrender, struggling well, and trusting God when His plan makes you want to cry.
In this episode of Coincidence or God? (formerly When You Look), host Mick Wienholt sits down with author, speaker, and former foster mama Kim Patton. Kim shares her raw journey from infertility and denial, to the miracle adoption of her two daughters (biological sisters, 15 months apart), to the day her husband Kevin said, "I think we should become foster parents to teenage girls."
Already overwhelmed as a stay-at-home mom, Kim thought there was no way. But God kept softening her heart. For two years, Kim and Kevin served as house parents in South Carolina and North Carolina, welcoming in teenage girls from hard places.
Kim also shares the hardest part no one talks about — knowing when to walk away from foster care to protect your own family, and totally surrendering to God in the process. If you're walking through any season where you want to say "I can't do this," this story will remind you that nothing is wasted and Christ will strengthen you.
